About Katie
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist in California. I received my Master’s degree in Marital and Family Therapy from California State University, Dominguez Hills. Before opening my private practice, I gained experience in a variety of settings, including residential treatment, community mental health, and the university setting.
My therapeutic orientation is person-centered, also known as client-centered or Rogerian. What this means is that as your therapist, I will prioritize building rapport with you because I see you as a unique individual and I believe your input is invaluable to the therapeutic process. Although I am always operating from my person-centered orientation, I may also include elements of CBT, DBT, and parts work into our sessions. For couple’s counseling, I also include both Gottman and EFT interventions.
On a personal note, I am an extrovert and spending time with my family and friends recharges me. I am a big self-care fan (bring on all the face masks and aromatherapy) and I’m too indecisive to stick to one hobby for long. In my down time, you can find me taking a mental health walk, binge watching a show with my husband, or trying to bond with my cute but temperamental parrot, Paco.
