What to Expect in Therapy
-
❋ Expect a supportive, yet direct therapist.
I take a warm and non-judgmental approach to therapy because it is so, so important to me that you feel like you can be open and real in our sessions. I try to lead by example by being authentic and honest, which also means being direct (yet still kind!) when needed.
-
❋ Expect to check in on your goals.
We will create goals for therapy within the first couple sessions and then I will check in on those goals from time to time. From there, we will adjust as needed so that our sessions are as productive and helpful as possible.
-
❋ Expect to learn skills.
We will go over different skills that you can practice or tools that you can use inside and outside of therapy. If we don’t do things differently, nothing changes, and I know you are coming in to therapy because you want some things to change.
-
❋ Expect to process.
We will talk about past or current experiences that have impacted your reasons for coming in to therapy. The reason for talking about these things in therapy is to give you the opportunity to make connections you might not have otherwise made, which means GROWTH. Growth means change.
